PLASTIC MACHINING WITH LDPE PLASTIC

Pete Poodiack, VP of Sales and Marketing at Controlled Fluidics, talks about LDPE plastic and what makes it a popular material for plastic machining and fabrication.

This video is about LDPE or low-density polyethylene. LDPE is a soft, flexible version of polyethylene. It has exceptional formability and it’s very resistant to stress cracking. That makes it ideal for prosthetics and molded laboratory equipment, but at Controlled Fluidics, we also see clients using this material for corrosion-resistant work surfaces.

In a lot of cases, people end up choosing between the low and high-density versions of polyethylene. Again, the low-density version is called LDPE, while the high-density version is HDPE. LDPE is softer and more flexible than HDPE. It also melts at a much lower temperature than the high-density version.

Both of these materials can be great for a wide variety of different applications, but this video is just a brief overview.
