RELATIVE PLASTIC PRICES TO DELRIN

Delrin (Acetal's branded name) is one of the most common plastic materials used for a variety of products. This makes it a great standard when it comes to cost and price comparisons.

The graph to the left documents how expensive common materials is. This gives an idea of what to expect when pricing out each material.

EASE OF MACHINING

Ease of machining is as it sounds: how easily an operator can machine a material. This accounts for 3 different factors that include stability, abrasiveness, and burr formation. When added together, they give a number/"score" that indicates how difficult it is to machine.

However, the higher number doesn't win here. In this case, the higher the number is, the more difficult it is to machine that material.

FLEXURAL MODULUS ELASTICITY

This factor tells teams how a material "bounces back" to perpendicular force. Does it keep its structure, or does it bend to that applied force?

This is important as it informs how stiff or flexible a material is. The numbers in the graph detail this in psi.
