PLASTIC MACHINING WITH PBT PLASTIC

Pete Poodiack, VP of Sales and Marketing at Controlled Fluidics, talks about PBT plastic and what makes it a popular material for plastic machining and fabrication.

Hello. In this video, weā€™re talking about PBT. So, PBT is short for polybutylene terephthalate. It is a semi-crystalline thermoplastic, and itā€™s actually a type of polyester.

In terms of advantages, PBT wears very well against friction. It also has great chemical resistance. In particular, itā€™s resistant to chlorine and caustic cleaning solutions. That makes it a very popular material for food processing or similar applications that require exposure to a lot of disinfectants or cleaning solutions.

At Controlled Fluidics, we also see this material used in a lot of electrical or scientific research applications. As an added bonus, PBT comes in a wide range of colors from white to bright colorful shades which adds a lot of flexibility to the design process.

This only covers the basics. Learn more aboutĀ PBT Plastic on our materials page.
